Angus Gunn Opens Up On His Norwich City Future Amid Contract Talks

Angus Gunn is determined to let his football do the talking as noise around his Norwich City future continues.

The Scotland international goalkeeper has entered the final 12 months of his deal at Carrow Road, something that has been a topic of conversation amongst supporters who hope to see Gunn remain at the club.

Johannes Hoff Thorup admitted earlier this week that extending Gunn’s stay is a ‘top priority’ for sporting director Ben Knapper, and the 28-year-old spoke about enjoying life at City when asked by the Pink Un about the Dane’s comments on his future.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here from when I was an eight-year-old coming into the academy, then getting that year back on loan when Daniel [Farke] was here – that was a really nice feeling,” Gunn said after Tuesday’s draw against Leeds.

“Coming back again, I’ve really enjoyed it. I had to work my way into the team and build my game up, but that’s been really positive.

“I want to concentrate on the rest of the season and hopefully let my football do the talking.”

Thorup spoke glowingly about Gunn after his standout performance in City’s 3-2 victory over Derby County at the weekend that saw him produce a match-winning save to deny Kayden Jackson a last gasp equaliser.

That prompted City’s boss to push him from the pack for individual acclaim from the near 2,800 travelling support at Pride Park, a gesture that Gunn feels is indicative of the rising levels of togetherness within the dressing.

Angus Gunn was selected for special praise after a late save against Derby in City’s 3-2 victory.

“I’m not really a fan of those kind of moments,” Gunn admitted. “Borja [Sainz] got the hat-trick which was important, but I like to celebrate as a team. He was pushing me to the fans, which I probably was a bit embarrassed about, but I appreciated it at the same time.

“It shows that he doesn’t just look at the forward players but the whole team, and he knows how important everyone is.

“The run that we’ve been on, the performances have been positive and it’s a very good mood around here at the moment. Hopefully, we can keep building on that.”
