Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has been asked about their pursuit of Rangers’ Rabbi Matondo following claims that negotiations regarding a loan deal “broke down” on Thursday.
Lampard recently admitted that he would like to draft in “help” on the wings to guide Coventry through their busy league schedule as he continues to be without several key attackers.
Matondo, who has made just eight first team appearances this season after nursing several injuries, was thought to be the man Lampard had targeted to bring to the English Championship club during the January transfer window.
But after reports stated the transfer may not go ahead following a “disagreement” between the two parties, the Coventry boss has now suggested that they aren’t any closer to completing any acquisitions.
Probed whether any incomings were on the horizon, Lampard said: “No, not at this period in time. There’s nothing I can tell you that’s imminent.”
Asked specifically about Matondo and what the situation is regarding the 24-year-old Rangers wide-man, he replied: “I’m not going to speak about that one today. He’s a Rangers player and I think it’s respectful to not speak about that one at this point.”
