Sheffield Wednesday: Finally Danny Rohl And Dejphon Chansiri End Dispute With January Signings Agreement

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri and Owls manager Danny Rohl have agreed to secure some signings after weeks of no transfer talks between the pair.

That’s according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon via Patreon on 21 January, which is news that will come as a huge relief to Wednesday supporters.

The two key Hillsborough figures had been at loggerheads with one another over the past few weeks, both over the club’s transfer plans and Rohl’s release clause price-tag, with the Owls boss revealing in December that no discussions had taken place between himself and Chansiri over potential targets.

Chansiri would then claim at a fans forum on 15 January that neither Rohl nor any member of the club’s recruitment team had presented him with a list of targets to pursue this month, in what has been an eventful few weeks to say the least.

Danny Rohl and Dejphon Chansiri agree to sort out Sheffield Wednesday signings

As revealed by Nixon on Tuesday, Rohl and Chansiri have finally buried their hatchet over their drawn-out and very public communication breakdown over Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer plans for the winter window.

The pair are said to have agreed to sort some new arrivals out in the closing stages of the window after a summit was held between them which saw them put their differences to one side for the sake of the football club.

Rohl is now understood to be on the hunt for signings, and he will be backed by Chansiri to fund new arrivals, as the Owls look to make a big play-off push in the second half of the season.

Nixon states that Chansiri and the transfer team are searching for possible targets, with the emphasis perhaps being to splash out the necessary funds to secure the arrival of a new striker before the end of the window.

Sheffield Wednesday need strong end to the transfer window to extinguish fan unrest

With two weeks to go until the transfer window slams shut on 3 February, Sheffield Wednesday must now make up for lost time in order to make some much-needed new additions to the squad.

They must also ensure that they deliver on this reported promise of fresh faces too, as should no signings be made after this revelation, then an already disgruntled Owls support may well take their frustrations up a few notches.

Wednesday fans made their feelings be known on Chansiri selling the club with a protest in the Elland Road away end ahead of their 3-0 defeat to Leeds United last Sunday, and now they will want to see their owner back their hugely popular manager in these final days of the transfer market.

Rohl and Chansiri’s situation has had the feeling of being a totally avoidable one all round, and has cast a shadow over what has been a largely bright season on the pitch for the club.

Having survived a relegation battle last season, Wednesday are now firmly in the mix for a play-off finish this season, and with the right additions this month, they look to have as good a chance as any in what is a wide open race for the fifth and sixth spots.

So, Sheffield Wednesday supporters could well be in for an exciting end to the transfer window, as they wait to see who and where these reinforcements will come from.
