Frank Lampard admits ‘help’ could be on its way for his Coventry City squad in the January transfer window.
The Sky Blues can add fresh players and strengthen their existing group when the mid-term trading begins on New Year’s Day when the team head to Cardiff City for the third of four holiday fixtures in the space of ten days.
Asked by CoventryLive if fans can expect any early business in terms of players coming in, Lampard said: “We’ll see, we’ll see…”
As for whether there are likely to be any existing players going out, the City boss replied: “I’m the wrong man to ask that question.”
Asked if he’s been told players have to go out in order to bring fresh ones in, in terms of balancing the books and freeing up wages, he said: “No, no,” before adding, “listen, I think we will look at it collectively and we’ll look at it together.
“Obviously I have a big opinion on it, so I don’t want to give you a crappy answer but if we can help the team and the squad then we’ll try to do it.
“I’ve got a good relationships here in that short time I have been in and we’ll try and do it. So we’ll see where we can help the squad, if we can help the squad and make it stronger because we know it’s a robust league that you need a squad and you need to be able to have competition.
“You want to develop players at the same time and, first and foremost, you want to win games so if we can help then we’ll try and help them.”
