Confirmed: Norwich City Sign Another Exciting Youngster To Long-Term Contract

Young Norwich City defender Brad Hills has committed his long-term future to the club after signing a new contract.

The Canaries have confirmed that the defender will remain at Carrow Road until 2027, with the club possessing an option for a further year after being rewarded for an impressive pre-season campaign under new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup.

Hills, born in Norwich and a boyhood fan of the club, impressed during a breakthrough loan campaign at League Two side Accrington Stanley last season. He won their player of the year award as well as being internationally recognised by the England U20s.

“It’s obviously a nice feeling and it’s nice to be rewarded after a successful season last season for myself, it’s nice,” the defender told official club channels.

“My family support the club and have done for many years now, so it’s a nice feeling to know that I’ll be here a bit longer.”

The defender, 20, made his senior Canaries debut in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup victory over League One side Stevenage and is applying pressure on his experienced colleagues for a starting place in City’s Championship side.

There is loan interest in the youngster should City decide that is the best next step for his development, although a decision is likely to be taken closer to the end of the window.

Speaking last month, Thorup praised the defender who he sees playing a major role in the Canaries future.

“I think he had a good pre-season so far. And I think he’s really showed that he’s close to the team. So we have to make sure that we create the best possible pathway for him, because I see him being a regular starter for this club.

“It’s for us to create the best pathway for him, whether it’s here or on loan somewhere, but for the moment he’s close, and that’s also why we keep him.”
