Phillies offseason update
The Philadelphia Phillies have officially made an important decision regarding Alec Bohm’s future.
The 5:00 p.m. deadline has passed, and Philadelphia did not extend a qualifying offer to the 1B/3B. That means Bohm is now available to all 30 Major League Baseball clubs as free agency begins.
This development creates another significant question for Dave Dombrowski and the Phillies: Have they officially decided to move on from Bohm, or could there still be a path toward bringing him back?
Bohm’s departure would create an interesting situation for Philadelphia’s infield plans, particularly as the organization evaluates its payroll, roster construction and potential offseason additions.
The decision not to extend a qualifying offer also means the Phillies will not receive draft-pick compensation tied to Bohm rejecting that offer and signing elsewhere.
Now, the focus shifts to what comes next.
