Nottingham Forest could land an extra £15million in prize money if they win the Europa League this season.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider Forest’s earnings from the second-tier competition will have reached around £25m.
The Reds secured a 2-1 victory on aggregate over Porto in the quarter-finals following their 1-0 win in the second leg at the City Ground last week.
Vitor Pereira’s side will now take on Aston Villa for a place in the final against either Braga or Freiburg in Istanbul.
While the Europa League has boosted Forest’s financial situation, winning the competition would bring the huge reward of Champions League qualification for next season.
How Europa League prize money will impact Nottingham Forest
Forest are facing a drop in revenue this season after underperforming in the Premier League, with Pereira’s side currently sitting 16th in the table.
However, progressing to the latter rounds of the Europa League will help mitigate the dip in broadcast revenue at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest’s results in the Europa League this season
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed how Forest’s exploits in Europe will impact their financial situation.
“It’s pretty meaningful, but clearly they’re down several places in the Premier League, so they’re going to lose revenue versus last season,” said Borson.
“They did £159m broadcast last season. They’re going to be down a material amount this season depending on where they finish in the end. They’re probably only going to do so far £25m if they went out in the semi-final.
“Although both games are going to be a sell out as well, but it’s going to be about £25m of Uefa prize money for a semi-final. If they win the semi-final, get to the final and win it, they probably could do another £15m.
“It’s going to have a big impact, but likewise, they’ve got to stay in the Premier League. That’s really the most important thing.”
How much revenue do Nottingham Forest generate?
Forest published their accounts for 2024-25 last month, showing their revenue increased from £190m in 2023-24 to £222m, marking a new club record.
That figure was boosted by a significant rise in broadcast revenue, which surged from £130m to £159m across the same period.
Meanwhile, commercial revenue improved from £30m to £39m, while matchday also rose from £14m to £20m.
Forest did, however, see their pre-tax losses increase dramatically from £12m to £71m at the City Ground.
