Parramatta fullback Isaiah Iongi has been issued with a breach notice for “bringing the game into disrepute” in a series of photos that emerged last month.
The Eels sought contacted the NRL integrity unit in late February when the photos, which appeared to show Iongi smoking, were shared on social media.
It is unclear when the pictures were taken or what the 22-year-old was smoking in the images.
But after an investigation by the NRL, Iongi looks set to receive a suspended one-game ban.
The league released a brief statement on Monday afternoon.
“The National Rugby League (NRL) today issued Parramatta Eels player Isaiah Iongi with a Breach Notice alleging a breach of the NRL Code of Conduct following an NRL Integrity unit investigation,” the statement reads.
“The particulars of the breach notice, determined by the independent decision maker (IDM), are that Iongi featured in imagery, which emerged publicly on 22 February 2026, which has brought the game into disrepute.
“Iongi has five business days to respond to the breach notice.”
Parramatta followed the breach notice with a short statement of their own.
“The Parramatta Eels are aware of the breach notice issued by the NRL to Isaiah Iongi,” the Eels said.
“We will work with Isaiah to review the notice and respond accordingly as per the process.
“We will not be making any further comment until the matter is concluded.
After coming across from Penrith in 2025, Iongi enjoyed a breakout season with the Eels last year, for which he was rewarded with a long-term contract until 2030.
