Southampton’s Léo Scienza is on the radar of several clubs, including from the Premier League.
The Brazilian moved to Germany when Schalke signed him from Swedish side Fanna BK in September 2020.
He had spells in Germany with 1. FC Magdeburg, SSV Ulm and 1. FC Heidenheim. The latter sold him to Southampton towards the end of last summer for €10m, a year after signing him.
The winger has starred for the Saints, scoring six goals and contributing eight assists from 30 Championship matches.
He has the third highest assists in the second division in England, behind Stoke City’s Sorba Thomas, Bristol City’s Anis Mehmeti and Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer [10 assists].
Scienza has created 19 big chances this season, makes 1.7 key passes per game, and has an XG of 4.72 and xA of 6.77.
Growing interest in Southampton player
Sky Deutschland have a report on what could happen to the 27-year-old’s future beyond this season.
His performances have seen several clubs take notice. This includes teams from the Premier League, Spain, Italy and even Brazil.
The report makes no mention of their details but explains clubs from these four countries have made approaches. It’s not clear whether they contacted the Championship side, his agent or both.
Southampton could favour a sale in the summer as they are demanding ‘at least €20m’.
Promotion key for Scienza’s future
Tonda Eckert’s side are now seventh in the table, trailing sixth placed Wrexham by three points.
Two months ago, the South American talked up his wish of making it to the Premier League. with Southampton.
He said: “God willing, everything works out here and we get promoted with the team to the Premier League. That would be crazy. It would be the top of my career so far. I hope things keep improving.”
Should Southampton fail to return to the top flight, Scienza’s Premier League suitors would have an edge over others. There’ll be more clarity on his future towards the end of this season.
Transfermarkt now value Scienza, who has a contract until 2028, at €10m. The Saints want at least double that to part ways with him in the summer.
