Southampton face £15m Wrexham battle to keep 28-year-old forward

Wrexham are believed to be considering a move for Southampton’s Adam Armstrong, according to reports.

Transfer guru Alan Nixon has claimed the Red Dragons are looking to pursue a £15m swoop for the striker, who featured against Pompey on Sunday.

The report suggests the Welsh outfit are willing to splash the cash this month in order to boost their push for the Premier League after moving into the play-off positions over the weekend.

Last week, Phil Parkinson’s men were also tipped with a £19m move for Angers striker Sidiki Cherif.

Armstrong is now said to be on Wrexham’s radar, with Southampton believed to be valuing the frontman at £15m.

The 28-year-old has netted 11 goals in 38 appearances for the Saints this term and started the south-coast derby draw over the weekend.

The Red Dragons moved into the Championship’s top six for the first time this season following Saturday’s 3-2 win over QPR and welcome Mousinho’s side to the Racecourse Ground next month.
