The National Rugby League has completed its investigations and handed down sanctions to four leading player agents for breaches of the Accredited Agent Scheme Rules.

Mario Tartak, Matt Desira, Nash Dawson and Chris Orr have been hit with combined bans of 33 months and fines totalling $60,000.

In a statement on Thursday the NRL announced the penalties together with a brief explanation of the allegations made against each agent.

MARIO TARTAK: Suspended for 12 months and fined $25,000.

Director of Crown Sports Management which manages players including Josh Addo-Carr, Damien Cook and Latrell Mitchell, Tartak was alleged to have communicated with an underage player without a parent or legal guardian being present. It was also alleged Tartak entered into a commercial arrangement with two NRL clubs in breach of the Accredited Agent Scheme Rules.

MATTHEW DESIRA: Suspended for 6 months and fined $10,000.

Desira’s sanctions relate to non-reporting and dishonesty following police charges and court proceedings which were brought against him. He is the Director of Aria Management Group which manages the likes of Jayden Campbell, Bronson Xerri and Benji Marshall.

NASH DAWSON: Suspended for 9 months and fined $15,000.

A player manager at global sports and entertainment business Wasserman, Dawson oversees some of the NRL’s biggest stars including Reece Walsh, Ezra Mam and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow. He was alleged to have breached the Accredited Agent Scheme Rules and the Accredited Agents’ Code of Conduct following a physical altercation with rival agent Chris Orr at the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships in 2024.

CHRIS ORR: Suspended for 6 months and fined $10,000.

Owner and Managing Director of Pacific Sports Management which overseas a large stable of current NRL and NRLW stars, Orr was also alleged to have breached the Accredited Agent Scheme Rules and the Accredited Agents’ Code of Conduct in the same incident involving Dawson in 2024.

Both Orr and Dawson were also found to have failed to co-operate with the NRL Integrity Unit.
