The Wests Tigers rebuild, on and off the field, continues with the club’s announcement that Shane Richardson has been appointed CEO on a four-year deal.
Richardson, as well as new coach Benji Marshall and interim chair Barry O’Farrell, have been tasked with turning the struggling outfit around.
Having worked as the Rabbitohs’ CEO between 2004 to 2015, culminating in the club’s drought-breaking 2014 premiership victory, Tigers fans will be confident Richardson knows what it takes to bring success back to the team.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to assist this club win its second premiership, and I look forward to working with Benji and the team to achieve that goal,” Richardson said.
“Wests Tigers is a family club with fiercely loyal members and a huge supporter base.
“We’re on a journey, come with us.”
The Tigers currently sit 13th with two wins from their first six games in Marshall’s maiden season as head coach.
Having not played finals since 2011 and claimed consecutive wooden spoons the past two years, the Tigers’ now appear to have enough stability off the field in order to find some on it.
“Shane has done a tremendous job since taking over as Interim CEO, impressing supporters, staff and sponsors,” said O’Farrell.
“It was a ‘no brainer’ for the board to secure his services for the future.
“No club can afford to let champions go, whether on the field or in the front office.”
