Frank Lampard is set to welcome Miguel Ángel Brau to Coventry City as his first signing of the summer transfer window.

According to Sky Sports News, the Spanish defender will arrive from Segunda División side Granada on a free.

The 23-year-old left-back’s contract at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes is up at the end of the month, with reports in Spain claiming the player had rejected a new deal.

Sports journalist Matte Moretto first revealed Cartagena-born Ángel Brau was Coventry-bound in a tweet posted on X last week.

He scored two goals in 27 appearances for the La Liga 2 club last season as they finished in 7th.

He started out playing for Granada’s second team before a loan spell at Taverna in 2022/2023.

He was promoted to the Granada first team on his return to the club, but after just the season has opted to move on, with England his next port of call.

It is not clear if the Spaniard’s arrival will see anyone currently at the CBS Arena move on.

Lampard was well served at left-back last term with Jay Dasilva cementing his place in that position.

The Sky Blues are yet to reveal their programme of warm-up fixtures for this summer, with the players due to return for pre-season training on July 1 ahead of a schedule of friendlies leading into the new season that kicks off on the weekend of August 8, 9 and 10.

However, we do know that a City XI will go to the West Country to face newly relegated League Two Rovers on Wednesday, July 23 at the Memorial Stadium.
