Utah’s Gianna Kneepkens Set To Visit South Carolina As Coach Dawn Staley Vowed To Hit The Transfer Portal With A Desire To Add Big Post Players In The Offseason

Earlier this week, South Carolina landed one of the performers in women’s basketball from the transfer portal, Ta’Niya Latson, for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Adding to the excitement came the announcement that another elite transfer would be visiting Columbia soon.

According to On3’s Talia Goodman, former Utah sharpshooter Gianna Kneepkens is set to visit South Carolina, as well as Oklahoma, Texas, and UCLA. Kneepkens is a 6-foot wing from Minnesota who spent four years with the Utes. She still has one year of eligibility left after suffering an injury that benched her for the majority of the 2023-24 season. Despite being WNBA eligible, Kneepkens will return to the collegiate level for another season.

As a redshirt junior, Kneepkens averaged 19.3 points, five assists, three rebounds, and one steal per game. She shot 50.4% from the field, 44.8% from beyond the arc, and 89.0% from the free throw line. Kneepkens is also a skilled ball handler, capable of driving down the court and is a solid rebounder.

Even if Kneepkens decides to continue her career elsewhere, head coach Dawn Staley has vowed to hit the transfer portal with a desire to add big post players in the offseason.
