Bristol Rovers Boss Inigo Calderon Offers Injury Update Ahead Of Crunch Exeter Clash

Inigo Calderon has confirmed that Bristol Rovers have no fresh injury concerns going into their crucial home game against Exeter City on Saturday afternoon, although the Spaniard is keeping his fingers crossed that that doesn’t change amid rotten luck of late.

The Rovers head coach met conducted media duties a day earlier than usual due to the Gas’ open training session at the Mem on Tuesday afternoon.

He did confirm that there were no new issues ahead of the weekend following last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers, but did joke that there was still time for a problem to arise.

Tapping the table for good luck, Calderon explained: “Not now. But we are still only Tuesday so with the luck we are having lately, probably something will happen because we are losing like one, two players per week.

“So now we are still with the same ones as last week.”

The Gas have had real problems with injuries of late, particularly with strikers. Both Promise Omochere and Chris Martin have been ruled out for the remainder of the season while Kamil Conteh also isn’t expected to play again this term having missed the last three-and-a-half months of action.

On-loan goalkeeper Myles Roberts, who hasn’t played a game for Rovers, is also expected to miss the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, Joel Senior was the latest player to pick up an issue, suffering an ankle injury in training last week that saw the right-back miss the trip to Bolton. Lino Sousa is also still sidelined but there is hope that the left-back will be involved again before the campaign concludes.

On a more positive note, Rovers have recently had Gatlin O’Donkor and Romaine Sawyers return to action with the former scoring against Birmingham City and the latter impressing in recent matches, scoring himself against Mansfield Town.

Michael Reindorf could also get minutes this weekend after the striker was included in a matchday squad for the first time since February against Bolton, although the teenager didn’t get on the pitch.
