19-Year-Old Norwich City Forward Opens Up On His Future After Stevenage League One Loan

Norwich City’s young striker Ken Aboh is relishing the chance to prove he can step up and make his mark on loan this season at League One Stevenage.

The 19-year-old pledged his longer term future to the Canaries in the summer, but knows he must grab his opportunity to impress head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup and sporting director Ben Knapper.

Aboh made his League One debut as a substitute against Lincoln less than 24 hours after his deadline day arrival. The youngster scored 11 goals in 15 Premier League 2 appearances last season for the Canaries, and is under no illusions the step up will be a test.

“I’m delighted to sign and grateful for the opportunity. The manager here really had faith in me when we spoke on the phone. He could see my qualities and he wanted to give me the platform,” he said, interviewed on Stevenage’s youtube channel. “I’m a forward, I’m eager and keen to go and make my mark in the men’s game.

“So to hear a manager have that faith in me, someone who used to be a forward himself, I thought I could come here and learn some things off him to not only help my development, but to impact the team as well.

“I know it will be a harder challenge but I am also very confident in my ability and I believe if I get a chance in the games I can express myself and shine. I like to score goals, I am very sharp and I also feel I am good on the ball and very direct.”

Thorup sanctioned a loan move for the forward, but made it clear earlier in the summer he is a fan.

“I think there’s a big potential,” said the Dane. “Some great movements, he’s one of those classic strikers that are really, really good at running off the back of the defenders, you know, having these small movements in and around the box, and so on, where he’s very, very clever.

“So definitely, definitely a player with a future here. Now we have to find out what will be the best solution for him for the next six months, and next season.”
