Tyler Herro, a shooting guard for the Miami Heat, recently shared his experience of thinking he was set to be traded for Damian Lillard over the summer.
Herro discussed his views on the predicament in an interview with Wes Goldberg.
He said that he had a hunch that his time with the Heat would be coming to an end when he learned about Lillard’s desire for a trade.
“I thought I was out of here,” Herro said. “I damn near had my s–t packed up.”
The Heat started talking to the Portland Trail Blazers about a potential trade after Lillard said he wanted to leave the franchise, according to Wes Goldberg of The Ringer. Despite the fact that Lillard eventually signed with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Herro’s name was often included in trade speculations about Lillard, who had made it known that he wanted to join the Heat.
But the transaction never happened, and Lillard finally moved to Milwaukee as part of a three-team trade that including the Phoenix Suns.
Herro went on to describe an intriguing occurrence that happened during this tumultuous time.
The Heat’s head coach Erik Spoelstra and him had gone out to lunch at the time when the prospective trade was first reported, he remembered.
Herro went to Spoelstra as his phone blasted alerts, saying, “Look, Coach, I don’t want to receive this, but I just have to make sure everything’s good at home.”
Herro is presently in his fifth season with the Miami Heat after being selected with the 13th overall choice in the 2019 NBA Draft.
He is committed to the squad until the 2026–27 season and has established himself as a crucial player.
