Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo are the leading forces for the Miami Heat as they seek to elevate their game for a late-season playoff push.
However, Adebayo and Herro are still going through a time of transition following Jimmy Butler’s trade to the Golden State Warriors, which brought Andrew Wiggins to Miami as part of the return. In addition to handling more responsibility, Adebayo and Herro have had to deal with adapting to playing with new teammates like Wiggins, Davion Mitchell, and Kyle Anderson while the team is on a 8-game losing streak. Adebayo shared his feelings on it as it’s the first time they’re leading the team on their own.
Butler had been the face of the franchise since 2019. According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Adebayo said: “It’s growing pains for us. “This is the first situation that’s it has really been just me and Tyler. I mean, obviously, the addition of [Andrew Wiggins], but we’re still trying to get Wiggs comfortable to where he can be fully himself.
Right now, we’re keeping it simple for him and just kind of getting out of his way. But for me and Tyler, it’s more so understanding that we know how hard it is to win in this league. You can never take that for granted. The Heat have been on a terrible run since trading Butler and have been having a lot of late-game meltdowns, particularly during their current 8-game losing streak.
Herro was very honest while speaking about Butler and what he brought to the table as the 2025 All-Star said: “I think Jimmy was really good at making the right play at the right time, whether it was for him or a teammate. “So I think that’s just part of mine and Bam’s process of continuing to get better.” Adebayo had been viewed as the next face of the Heat for a long time.
On the other hand, Herro has finally made his long-awaited leap this season and become an All-Star.
The Heat are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 29-39 record and were recently overtaken by a rebuilding Chicago Bulls team that has parted ways with DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso since the summer.
That just goes on to show how bad things have gotten for the Heat and there are serious question marks over the new-look trio of Herro, Adebayo and Wiggins.
