Behind burgeoning superstar Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves anticipate a predicted advancement. Despite the team’s dismal finish overall in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Edwards had an outstanding individual campaign. Last year, the Wolves persevered through the play-in round to earn the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
The Wolves had all three of their two-way contract openings filled going into the preseason, but they made some adjustments this week. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Timberwolves released Matt Ryan to make room on their regular-season roster for Daishen Nix to fill the previously empty two-way contract positions.

When the Timberwolves first signed Daishen Nix to an Exhibit 10 contract, he had a little chance of joining the team for the regular season. Nix now has a position on the roster for the time being and will be with the squad on opening night. A team may hold a maximum of three two-way contract slots. On a two-way deal, Nix is joined by Jaylen Clark, a rookie, and Luka Garza.
Nix played for the Houston Rockets past season. He played 16 minutes per game in 57 appearances, seven of which were starts. He shot 34.2 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from three-point range, and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line for a scoring average of 4.0 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
Nix was a member of the first batch of players for the G League Ignite, however he was not selected in the 2021 NBA Draft. The Rockets acquired him on a two-way deal. Although the Rockets ultimately converted his contract to a normal one, he was released in the summer.
