Swindon Town FC Fans Staged A Protest To Demand Sales From Club’s Majority Owner

Hundreds of Swindon Town FC fans staged a protest on Saturday demanding the club’s majority owner sells the club.

The Spirit of ’69 group wants Clem Morfuni to put the club on the market and find potential buyers over what it claims is “systematic incompetence”.

Dan Hunt, co-founder of Spirit of ’69, said protesters made a “right old racket” outside County Ground after the game against Port Vale.

Swindon Town FC has been approached for comment.

Swindon Town are 10 points outside the League Two promotion play-off places after drawing 3-3 at home to Port Vale.

They sit 15th in League Two and 12 points above relegation, however, eight teams below have games in hand.

Mr Hunt said “things are looking up on the pitch” but “structurally nothing has changed”.

“The success on the pitch is in spite of what is happening behind the scenes,” he said.

Mr Hunt said: “Today was about bringing right to the Arkells Stand, right to the club’s front door. We’ve made a right old racket, we’ve had probably 250 to 300 people here. It’s passed off peacefully.

“For the people sat in the upper echelons of the Arkells Stand, in the hallways of Swindon Town FC, that message would have landed very firmly once again.”
