Swindon Town Confidence Of Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Walsall Clash

Swindon Town boss Ian Holloway is hopeful defensive pair Ryan Delaney and George Cox will be in contention for their trip to League Two leaders Walsall tomorrow.

Delaney has missed the past two games after having stitches taken out of his knee, an injury he had been battling through for a number of weeks.

Cox has been out since the beginning of January with a foot injury but Holloway is optimistic he could be handed a double boost ahead of the weekend.

“He [Delaney] is much more comfortable already,” Holloway told Swindon Advertiser. “He has been playing through an awful lot of pain in the last few weeks and he has managed to get through it.

“Hopefully, he [Cox] will be back on the grass on Monday or Tuesday trying to get available for the weekend.

“It [his foot injury] was very painful, it was nothing that was going to keep him out long-term but it was about handling the discomfort it causes him and the lack of movement it gives him.”

The Robins are also without Harrison Minturn, Billy Kirkman and Aaron Drinan due to long-term injuries.

Swindon have undergone a remarkable transformation under Holloway with only Bradford City (26) and Doncaster Rovers (21) registering more points than the Robins (20) in 2025.

That run has guided them 15 points clear of the drop zone and to within 11 points of the play-off spots.

Holloway was charged by the FA for misconduct earlier this week following his red card during their 1-0 win over Chesterfield last weekend.

The former Blackpool boss was dismissed inside the opening 15 minutes after disputing a caution and has until Monday next week to respond.

Harry Smith is the leading marksman for Swindon, with 12 league goals and two more in cup competitions this season.

Daniel Butterworth and Kabongo Tshimanga have also weighed in with two goals apiece in their last four appearances.
