Swindon Town are weighing up whether to loan 22-year-old striker after signing other forwards

The January transfer window has been a busy one for Swindon, with Michael Olakigbe, Aidan Borland, Ben Middlemas, and Fletcher Holman all arriving.

Olakigbe and Holman have replaced the roles that Princewill Ehibhatiomhan and Paul Glatzel were fulfilling in the first half of the season, and have gotten off to quick starts.

Having started twice in the cups and come off the bench against Salford City in League Two, Olakigbe has already got three assists and has displayed what he can do to unlock a deep defence.

Holman was a second-half substitute against Salford last weekend and put in an inch-perfect cross for Aaron Drinan to score Town’s second goal.

All of this has posed questions about where Tabor fits in the rotation at present, as he was not named on the bench last weekend, even with Billy Bodin out with a hamstring injury, although he did come on against Salford in the FA Cup on Tuesday.

Holloway said that he has been hugely pleased with what he has seen from the former Amersham Town striker this season, but was wondering if more game time would help him.

He said: “He’s part of us, but I need to build him, whether he needs some extra games or not [to help that happen, I am not sure]. He’s done ever so well coming off the bench.

“All he needs to do is score, because his work rate is totally and utterly what I love about him, and I think he’s got a damn sight more skill than has actually come off for him at the moment.

“So I’m delighted with him. Absolutely delighted.

“We have to look at our work rate, and if anybody doesn’t do the work rate that he does, they won’t be playing. I’m going to make that totally clear.

“It just depends. He’s in a very different situation because of the lack of coaching and lack of professionalism he’s ever had, but he’s well on the way to becoming who I want him to be.”

Having already played for Swindon this season, Tabor would only be able to join Bath City on loan this season, after impressing there on loan earlier in the campaign.

The striker scored against Slough Town and earned plenty of praise from Darren Way, so a move back to Twerton Park would seem a likely possibility.
