Swindon Town Are Set To Complete The Loan Signing For 25-Year-Old  With 6 League Appearances

League Two Swindon Town are set to complete the loan signing of Josh Benson from League One Barnsley according to reports.

The 25-year-old moved from Championship side Burnley in 2021, but has struggled for game time in the past couple of seasons.

The midfielder has only appeared 6 times in the league this campaign for a total of 15w minutes.

However, according to Alan Nixon he is set to link up with Ian Holloway once again at Swindon Town. He played 11 times under the Robins boss at former club Grimsby Town in the latter half of the 2019/20 season, scoring two goals in the process.

Swindon Town Turning a Corner?

It is safe to say that this season did not begin how Swindon Town fans would have hoped. A disastrous start saw manager Mark Kennedy let go and replaced by former Blackpool boss Ian Holloway. A potential relegation battle appeared to be on the cards as the club sat just above the drop.

However, an upturn in form and a string of good results have seen them move up the table to give them a 13 point buffer on Carlisle United who are occupying the final relegation spot.

With a transfer window and time to assess his squad Ian Holloway does now appear to steering the sleeping giants back into contenders once more.

However, with constant off field issues and protests against the ownership it will take a lot more convincing for the County Ground faithful than just to avoid relegation.

The real test will come next season as the fans will be hoping for a significant push up the table for a club their size as well as a cleaning up of the issues that have plagued Clem Morfuni’s time at the helm of Swindon Town. It remains to be seen if Holloway can continue the improvement heading into the second half of the season.
