Turkish club Goztepe wants to sign Southampton’s new player Joachim Kayi Sanda on a January loan.
Recently, Southampton completed the signing of teenage centre-back Joachim Kayi Sanda. Just after arriving, Kayi Sanda started in Southampton U21’s recent 5-0 win on Friday.
Thus, it is clear that the Saints view him as a key defender for the future. For that to happen, the 18-year-old should seek some loan opportunities to further his development.
One such opportunity could arrive in January itself.
New Southampton signing could already leave on a January loan
According to a report from Ege Telgraf, Turkish club Goztepe is eyeing a January loan for Kayi Sanda. The report mentions that Goztepe views Kayi Sanda’s versatility as a big asset for their squad.
On top of that, Kayi Sanda could gain some valuable experience after playing in Turkey.
Southampton’s relationship with Goztepe is well known. Both clubs as well as Valenciennes are owned by the Sport Republic firm.
As a result, a lot of players have swapped the Saints to join the Turkish outfit in recent years. Safe to say, many of them have excelled at Goztepe.
Now, Joachim Kayi Sanda could also join this long list of players.
Further, a successful six month spell in Turkey could benefit Southampton. A few days ago, Saints defender Jan Bednarek was urged to leave the St. Mary’s for a big European club.
Honestly, Bednarek’s loyalty to Southampton is unmatched. The Poland defender was one of the few regular starters who spent the Championship season at the club as well.
However, Bednarek may decide to leave if the Saints are relegated again. Unfortunately, this scenario looks to happen again in May.
Here, Joachim Kayi Sanda could be a long-term replacement for Bednarek.
Southampton have already built their core around talented young players. Now, let’s hope Kayi Sanda also becomes an integral part of this future Saints lineup.
