Sheffield Wednesday’s Bailey Cadamarteri, currently on loan with League One Lincoln City from the Championship club is set for a significant spell on the sidelines due to an injury.
The 19-year-old has grown into the season with Lincoln City, with his place in the starting line-up chopping and changing at times with Imps youngster Jovon Makama. However, he has now started the last six league games in a row and contributed eight goals across all competitions.
The striker was mysteriously missing from the squad in their last fixture against Northampton Town, leading to some speculation regarding a possible recall. The club quashed these rumours with a post confirming that the forward was injured and the deadline for a return to the Owls had passed.
The extent of the injury was not known at the time but has now been confirmed to be approximately six weeks.
“We’ve lost Bailey for a few weeks,”
“So we’re down to four at the moment. When (does) Bailey come back? Probably in about six weeks, which is not ideal because Bailey’s been developing really well. But we’ve lost him through an adductor injury in training.
“So we’re down to four at the minute. Obviously, Tyler’s still injured for the foreseeable, so we’ve probably got four fit strikers in the building at the minute. We need five because, like Bailey, they get injured and get niggles. With how we want to play and be aggressive, it’s important. Five is a good number for us, and they’ll all get minutes and we’ll be raring to go.”
Lincoln City Forward Line Issues
Lincoln started the season with the plan to utilise Tyler Walker, alongside their young forwards. But with the former Coventry City man confirmed to be missing much of the season, it left very few options and a lack of experience up top. Rob Street departed on loan and Ben House has had several niggles throughout the season leading to Jovon Makama (20), Freddie Draper (20) and Cadamarteri (19) being the only options.
With the Sheffield Wednesday loanee sidelined as well as Jack Moylan who contributes significantly to the starting line-up it leaves the Imps needing reinforcement despite the signing of James Collins from Derby County.
