Sheffield Wednesday Recieving Multiple Offers For 40-Goal Attacker

Young Sheffield Wednesday attacker, Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri, is having the sort of season that tends to get you noticed.

The 15-year-old scored his 40th goal of the season over the weekend as he bagged a late winner for the Owls against Crewe Alexandra – his fifth against them this season – and he’s recently turned out for both England and Scotland at youth level.

His 40 goals have been scored across three different age groups from U15 through to U18, and he’s even had the chance to train with the senior team at Middlewood Road on one occasion as well. It’s those goalscoring exploits that have caught the eye of several clubs in the Premier League, and The Star understands that numerous have already made bids to try and sign him.

It comes as no surprise that Cadamarteri, the younger brother of fellow Wednesday striker, Bailey, is a target for some of the nations biggest clubs, however his current club are eager to see him stick around at S6 and have rejected every offer that has come their way so far.

Interest in the talented teen is likely to continue, with more bids to be expected going forward, however Wednesday’s decision to offer him early scholarship terms is the only way of trying to protect their asset at this stage given his young age.

Cadamarteri, who is also eligible for Jamaica like his older brother, will no doubt be focused solely on finishing the season strongly as the Owls’ U18s look to push for the Professional Development League North title, but there could be plenty of talk about the youngster’s future over the summer.

Cadamarteri stepping up the levels at Wednesday

Andy Sharp, the manager of the club’s U18s, recently said of the attacker, “It’s well-publicised we’ve had young Caelan Cadamarteri who has done really well as an U15 playing regular U18s football, scoring goals and earning international call-ups…

“Sometimes you can’t predict how it will go when you introduce young players and step them up. We had it on our mind to dip them into the U18s because we thought it was the right time to do it.

“You never know how players are going to take to it and how they will respond. We had one or two injuries and that kind of pushed this situation a bit earlier than we maybe planned but they took to it, did really well and have thrived in this environment.

“They have gone in there, then come out, Caelan went back to his own age group and experienced the Floodlit Cup and the U15s group had some success in that which is great.”

Wednesday have plenty of talent coming through at academy level at this point in time, with scouts from big clubs all over the country attending their games on a regular basis, and the likes of Cadamarteri, Will Grainger, Yisa Alao and Perry Ridge are among those who have stepped up in age levels to be part of the U18s setup in 2024/25. They’ll all be eager to continue making their mark in blue and white over the remaining seven fixtures.
