Diego Alonso, the manager of Sevilla, has discussed how Arsenal’s actions during Friday night’s Champions League match significantly “affected” his team.
At the Ramon Sanchez-Pijzuan Stadium, goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli gave Arsenal a 2-1 victory.
On the cusp of halftime, Jesus set up the first goal, which Martinelli finished well to give Arsenal a lead.
After the interval, the Brazil striker extended Arsenal’s lead with a stunning shot into the top corner.
Youssef En-Nesyri came near during one of Sevilla’s chances in the first half. Sevilla undoubtedly had their moments in the game.
Just minutes after Jesus’ attempt, Nemanja Gudelj gave them a chance to recover, but Arsenal put up a resolute defensive performance.
The manager of Sevilla, Diego Alonso, also thinks that Arsenal’s goals last night were badly timed.

Alonso acknowledged that Arsenal’s goals had a significant impact on his team while praising their “quality” at a post-match press conference in Seville.
“Undoubtedly the goal affects before we go to half-time and how it comes, because the team comes focused on the attack, with us with six players inside the area of the rival team, trying to score ourselves and, in a rebound and we failed in the offensive surveillance, where we should have been a little more forceful so that that does not happen,” he said.
“They score a goal and obviously, also with the quality of the footballers they have. In the second half it affected us, especially in the first fifteen minutes until they scored and after they scored I think the team had flight again, it freed itself, it became the team of the first half again and we generated again.” as quoted by Futbol Fantasy.
The two goals that Arsenal scored each side of halftime couldn’t have arrived at a better time.
The Gunners did had a fantastic second-half start as well, and as they continued to generate opportunities, it seemed probable that they would score a third.
Arsenal had to defend their advantage following the goal when Sevilla struck them against the flow of play from a corner.
Even though Mikel Arteta’s team was well below par that evening, they managed to scrape out a much-needed victory.
