Houck has been incredible for the Red Sox so far this season, posting a 1.90 ERA (fourth in baseball) and a 0.99 WHIP (11th). He’s allowed hits to just two Tigers in his career – Akil Badoo (1-for-3) and Spencer Torkelson (1-for-2 with an RBI).
Maeda has pitched poorly for Detroit this season, recording a 5.80 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP in his eight starts. However, his last start came against the Toronto Blue Jays, and he pitched five scoreless innings. Only one Red Sox has ever recorded a hit off of the 36-year-old – Devers (2-for-7 with a home run and two RBIs).
