Reading FC Defender Pens Emotional Message To Fan Amid Imminent Premier League Switch

Tyler Bindon has penned a heart-wrenching goodbye message to Reading and their supporters as he prepares to start a new chapter of his career with Nottingham Forest.

We’ve all known that this message was coming for a while, since Deadline Day of the January transfer window to be exact.

On that day, Forest announced that they had completed a deal to sign Bindon from Reading in a deal that was reported to be worth a bit less than Sam Smith’s £2 million move to Wrexham in the same window.

The New Zealand international was loaned back to the Royals upon signing for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, though, allowing him to help Reading with their play-off push.

They fell just short of the top six, in the end, but Bindon got to celebrate his time at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on the final day of the campaign, on what was a truly special day for the club off the pitch, as it was announced that Dai Yongge had agreed a deal to sell the club to Redwood Holdings Ltd (Rob Couhig).

Bindon also received the club’s Player of the Season award after the 4-2 loss to Barnsley that ended Reading’s post-season hopes.

The central defender has said his final goodbyes to everyone at the club and has signed off with this message that he posted on his Instagram.

“Thank you, Reading,” Bindon started.

“To the staff, players, fans, and everyone connected to the club, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without you all, there would be no club. You have shown incredible strength through tough times, and I truly hope brighter days are now ahead.

“It has been an absolute honour to call myself a Royal for the past two years. I’ve loved every moment and every connection made. The memories will stay with me forever.

“I will miss you all. Thank you for everything.”

Tyler Bindon should be happy knowing that he is leaving a much more stable Reading than the one he found

The 20-year-old made the move to Berkshire as an 18-year-old at the start of the Royals’ first season back in League One. They were hit with three points deductions across that campaign, and yet he played a major role in helping the club survive.

Next up was making it thrive, and he certainly delivered on that, despite the poor conditions that he and his teammates have had to work under over the past two seasons.

There have been so many off-the-pitch distractions in Bindon’s relatively short spell with the club, but it should give the New Zealander peace of mind that, providing that some major breakdown in the finalisation of the sale doesn’t occur, Reading are in a much better place now than when he first joined them.
