Pundit Predicts Frank Lampard Future At Coventry City And Big Summer Questions

Frank Lampard’s stock in football management has undoubtedly risen again after a hugely successful first few months at Coventry City.

The Sky Blues boss dropped down to the Championship to take the vacant job last November, having been out of work for 18 months following challenging stints at Everton and Chelsea.

And the 46-year-old has impressed with the job he’s done so far at the CBS Arena, lifting the club from two points off the bottom three to fifth in the table and just seven games away from securing a place in this season’s play-offs and the opportunity of having a crack at promotion.

Regardless of whether City succeed or not, Lampard has shown himself to be a talented head coach who knows how to get the best out of players and may well, therefore, be a wanted man come the summer.

He’s already been touted as a possible fit for Rangers – a club he’s a big fan of – while the England legend will have ambitions to return to the Premier League one day, something he might even achieve that with Coventry in the next couple of months.

Asked about Lampard’s short-term future and whether he thinks he’s found his home with the Sky Blues, former City striker turned pundit Clinton Morrison said: “Yeah, definitely. You’ve got to realise Coventry gave him that next opportunity at a period where he would have been uncertain where the next opportunity was going to come from, because with his other clubs it didn’t work out as how he would have wanted things to.

“So he got the opportunity at Coventry City and it’s now down to Frank to continue what he’s doing there. And if he gets them promoted, he doesn’t need to go anywhere because he’s a Premier League manager once again, so I couldn’t see Frank Lampard jumping ship, even if Coventry didn’t get promoted.”

Speaking on to FreeBets.com, Morrison added: “I think Frank is building something there. They’ve got a bit of money at Coventry, and they will back Frank in the summer, regardless. So I think you just have to keep on doing what he’s doing.

“I can’t see him jumping ship at the moment. No way. I just think he’s doing ever so well at Coventry. As I said, a big football club which needs to be back in the Premier League.

“And if Frank can keep getting the results like he’s getting at the moment with the bond that he has with the crowd, and I think he gets on well with the hierarchy and his players are buying into it. So then there’s no reason for Frank to leave the football club. So the only thing I can see is Frank staying.”
