Portsmouth boss John Mousinho is relaxed over the future of out-of-contract full-back Zak Swanson heading into the summer.
Portsmouth look to be in a good position to survive after a tough start to the season. Pompey sit 17th in the Championship table, eight points off the bottom three.
As the end of the campaign nears, the relevant figures at Fratton Park will be making plans for 2025/26, likely outlining moves and decisions for two scenarios: If they stay up, and if they go down.
Transfer targets will already be in mind but there are decisions to make on the contract front too, one of which will be regarding full-back Zak Swanson.
The Portsmouth man’s deal is up this summer after signing a deal until the end of this season last July. While there is a 12-month extension option, that was the case last summer too, and the club opted against triggering it before negotiating a new deal.
John Mousinho has now been quizzed over Swanson’s Pompey contract fate, telling The News there is ‘no rush’ at this moment in time.
“There’s no rush on any of that,” the Portsmouth boss said.
“I think Zak has done quite well this year and started quite a high number of games.
“That’s just one, genuinely from my point of view, I have no interest in delving into at the moment. That’s because Zak’s doing well and has his place in the team – I just think that’s a conversation for the summer.”
