Portland Trail Blazers Forward Linked With Los Angeles Lakers

Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant has been loosely linked to the Los Angeles Lakers on the first day of NBA Free Agency, 2024. Grant is under contract with the Blazers through 2027 with a player option in 2027-28, but the Lakers might be interested in trading for him, according to rumors floated on X by Los Angeles “media personality” Anthony F. Irwin.

Irwin tweets that the Blazers and Lakers have been in low-boil discussion mode all day about the 30-year-old combo forward.

I’m told the Lakers and Trail Blazers have been in consistent talks on a deal for Jerami Grant. I wouldn’t call it particularly imminent but the sides have definitely been active most of today.

He also suggests that the price for Grant would include two first-round picks.

The Lakers are just kind of stuck waiting right now. They don’t want to move both their firsts for Jerami Grant and they’re waiting on Klay [Thompson] before they move on to other options.

Grant is scheduled to make $29.8 million in the upcoming season. He averaged 21.0 points and 2.8 assists in 33.9 minutes per game over 54 appearances for the Trail Blazers in 2023-24, shooting 45.1% from the field and 40.2% from the three-point arc.
