Rangers are now being linked to six players ahead of Philippe Clement’s first transfer window in charge.
There has been little concrete reportage on who the Belgian manager wants to bring into the club with the coach himself insisting he is still observing the squad.
Rangers’ summer spend of £21m is yet to herald the necessary rewards but there’s a long way to go this season and renewed optimism under Philippe Clement.
An expertly executed January window could be the final catalyst for success at the end of the season and here are six names we’ve noticed making headlines.
Clement eyes-up Rangers transfer talents
Whilst some of the other names on this list are more recognisable, two of the transfer links in particular will stand out to Rangers fans.
The first is Ghanaian international centre-back Nathaniel Adjei, who is currently turning out for Swedish Allsvenskan outfit Hammarby.
Originating in Sky Sports, it’s being claimed Rangers are monitoring the 21-year-old defender alongside Old Firm rivals Celtic and a host of English Championship sides.
There is also Bayer Leverkusen teenager Noah Mbamba, the Belgian youth international having worked with Philippe Clement at Club Brugge.
According to TEAMtalk, Rangers’ hopes for a loan move for Noah Mbamba have put them in front of Manchester City who want to sign the kid permanently.
Rangers have used the loan market well in recent seasons, with Ibrox-linked Chelsea star Cole Palmer potentially one that got away.
A return for two familiar faces?
Alongside the rather more exciting links to Adjei and Mbamba are reports surrounding the potential return of two Ibrox stars.
Firstly, there is loan Rangers star Ianis Hagi, who is currently out at La Liga side Alaves, where he’s ranking amongst the top playmakers in Europe.
Also back in the Romania team and firing the nation to Euro 2024, the attacking midfielder’s post-injury redemption story is on and fans are taking notice.
Having just signed a new contract with Rangers last season and with Alaves boasting no option to buy there is plenty of coverage around Ianis Hagi at the moment.
Whilst Rangers themselves said the deal was until “the end of the current season” fan pressure is mounting regarding a potential recall.
Then there is also Ryan Kent who is struggling in Turkey following a summer move to Fenerbahce.
Reports coming out of Turkey have suggested one Scottish and one English club are interested in signing the player on loan in January.
Naturally, it’s spawned talk of a potential return to Rangers.
Rangers non-starters?
As Philippe Clement looks to his first transfer window with Rangers, there are also a few options who appear a tad ambitious.
Firstly, Rangers were mentioned alongside Fluminense winger Jhon Arias as the Colombian helped fire his side to Copa Libertadores glory.
The thing is, Rangers aren’t the only ones being linked with the same TEAMtalk report mentioning West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Wolves as potential suitors.
Throw in the suggestion that Sporting Lisbon were quoted £17m for the winger in the summer and suddenly those Rangers links seem a tad ambitious.
There’s also the chatter around Lawrence Shankland and whether Rangers should’ve made the transfer even before Philippe Clement took charge.
Tipped by Rangers legends in every direction, the striker’s form has reignited a debate surrounding his signature which is being played out almost daily in the media.
Netting on international duty with Scotland, Rangers continue to be mentioned alongside the striker but a January move continues to look highly unlikely.
