The New Orleans Pelicans could be without both of their All-Star forwards in Thursday’s game against the Detroit Pistons.
The Pelicans are planning to rest Zion Williamson, who scored 20 points in Wednesday’s win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Brandon Ingram, who has missed the Pelicans’ previous two games, is listed as questionable. The Pelicans previously said Ingram was dealing with right knee soreness. On Thursday’s injury report, the team said Ingram was dealing with right knee tendinitis.
Willie Green took over as Pelicans coach in July 2021. Since then, Williamson and Ingram have played in 14 games.
The Pelicans have a 3-1 record. They came back from 22 points down to beat the Thunder on Wednesday. The team got stuck in Oklahoma City on Wednesday night due to a mechanical issue with their plane. They flew to New Orleans on Thursday morning. They touched down in the city a little after noon.
The Pelicans could have to dig deep into their bench against the Pistons. Jose Alvarado (right ankle sprain), Naji Marshall (right knee contusion) and Trey Murphy (left knee partial meniscectomy) remain out for New Orleans.
