Pre-tax losses have widened in the latest accounts for Sheffield Wednesday despite turnover rising following the club’s return to the Championship.
The Owls finished the 2023/24 season 20th in the Championship, following their promotion from League 1 the previous season.
The accounts show a pre-tax loss of £10m was recorded in the year ending 31 July 2024, compared to £7.24m in 2022/23.
Turnover increased to £26.3m from £19.3m the previous year.
The increase was down to greater distributions from the Football League following promotion, as well as a 5 per cent rise in average attendance to 26,762.
Staff costs increased to £21.8m from £15.8m.
As of 31 July, the club had net liabilities of £81.9m, up from £72.1m, including amounts due to owner Dejphon Chansiri of £61.2m, up from £51.1m.
Wednesday are currently ninth in the Championship after 25 games of the 2024/25 season.
