Many Fearing Derby’s Fate Is Already Sealed With Fans Reactions On Twitter

Derby County’s hopes of avoiding relegation took another blow last night after Hull City’s victory over Plymouth extended the gap to safety to seven points.

In what was a huge game at the bottom of the Championship table, the Tigers took a big leap to survival with a 2-0 victory.

Goals from Joe Geldhardt and Abu Kamara sealed the win for Ruben Selles’ side leaving Derby, Luton and Plymouth in real trouble at the foot of the table.

With 11 games remaining, Derby need a significant transformation in fortunes and fans had plenty to say after Hull’s result was confirmed.

Here’s what fans had to say on X, formerly known as Twitter, with many fearing Derby’s fate is already sealed.

Kyle DCFC04: “I think that when we go down, we’ll be down there for as long (if not longer) as Sunderland and Ipswich were down there, and I think in the long term it’ll probably be the best thing. Gives us time to build a proper team so we actually compete.”

Chris: “If we were playing for our lives like the Rooney season, I’d be half hopeful, but were a shadow of the courage in that team. Not a chance we’re pulling this back now.”

Ashdec: “Hull winning is another nail hammered in our coffin. It’s delaying the inevitable now. Just relegate us!”

DCFCStephen: “League 1 was confirmed after that horror show of a January transfer window, not because Hull have won tonight.”

Aaron: “Yeah we’re gone, seven points is too much.”

Derby are next back in action this weekend when they face John Eustace’s former club Blackburn Rovers at Pride Park.

Derby go into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough last Saturday with Finn Azaz’s goal stretching the winless run in the league to 12 games.
