Luton Town’s 30-Year-Old Makes Leeds United Admission After 3-0 Defeat

Luton Town defender Amari’i Bell described Elland Road as a “difficult place” to play after their 3-0 defeat to Leeds United.

Bell was named in the visitors starting 11 which was ultimately carved open far too easily by Leeds United throughout the encounter and alluded to the Whites’ impressive form in a post-match interview with club channels as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

He said: “It was a tough one. Obviously it is a difficult place to come, they are in good form as well. I think we struggled at times. The goals weren’t the best, it is a difficult one to take.

“The goal right before halftime was tough. If we go in at 1-0, but 2-0 down it is a little bit more difficult to get back into the game.

“In the second half, we frustrated them a little bit more but things still aren’t right. At times we got the shape right, we just need to be able to communicate better in that sense and get the press a little bit better.”

Bell isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last opposition player to use the Elland Road atmosphere as a reason for defeat but in reality, it’s a valid statement.

Leeds supporters are some of the best in the country and when things are going well, Elland Road is a fortress and provides a serious unsettling atmosphere for opposition players to play their football.

That, added to the incredible level of quality in the Leeds squad, plays a huge role in home encounters and will continue to do so throughout the remainder of the campaign.

Daniel Farke’s side sit at the summit of the Championship with Sunderland and Sheffield United both dropping points in recent weeks and maintaining that home form could prove critical in their hopes of remaining there.

Leeds have accumulated the most points at home in the league this season, with 22 in nine games with a +15 goal difference.
