Luton Town Confirm Former Wycombe Wanderers As New Hatters Boss

Earlier today, here on Vital Luton Town, we suggested that following the departure of Richie Kyle and Paul Trollope, a new managerial appointment was imminent.

The departures of Kyle and Trollope – in-with-the-new-out-with-the-old – were, to me, indicative of the decks being cleared ahead of the announcement of the new gaffer.

That proved to be exactly the case with the appointment of Matthew Bloomfield being announced, on social media, at 12:30 hours:

Bloomfield joins Luton Town after leaving Wycombe Wanderers, who he had led to the top of League One.

Indeed, Matt has a strong allegiance with Wycombe Wanderers after spending 19 years there as a player before taking over the managerial role in 2023.

It must have taken some persuasion, by the Hatters hierarchy, to persuade Matt to jump ship with his side looking set for a return to the Championship.

With Preston North End our opposition, at Keenilworth Road, this Saturday, it’ll be interesting to see who makes his first starting XI and what formation he opts for, considering he hasn’t much time to work with the squad before the game.
