Marc Roca could remain on loan at Real Betis for the 2024/25 season if Leeds United fail to earn promotion from the Championship this season, according to Mucho Deporte.
The Spanish news outlet shared via their website on 25 October that the midfielder’s current loan deal could be extended for another year as a result of his impressive form.
Roca has scored two goals already this season, more than he managed in 32 Premier League games with Leeds, as he has already matched his best-ever goalscoring season, such is the confidence he has found at Betis.
There feels as if there has been an acceptance from Leeds, Betis and Roca that the Spanish club will likely become a more permanent destination for the midfielder.
Since he left on loan in the summer, he has received glowing reviews from his manager and more senior members of the club, while speaking himself about how happy he is playing in Spain and that he wants to continue to perform for Real Betis.
Reports at the time of his move claimed that there was a £10.5million option to buy in his loan deal [Mundo Deportivo, 10 July], but this has more recently been questioned due to the financial situation of the Spanish club [Leeds Live, 18 October].
It would make sense for Roca to continue his spell in Spain, with the move in the best interests of the player, but whether Leeds would prefer to cash in on a permanent deal is unknown as things stand.
