Latest On Sacramento Kings’ Interest In Washington Wizards Forward

Recap: Wizards beat Kings, 109-102 - Bullets Forever

The Sacramento Kings are reportedly interested in Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma, aiming to bolster their roster before the 2024-25 season.

Before this, the Sacramento Kings were linked with Chicago Bulls swingman Zach LaVine. However, Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer pointed out that the level of interest may have cooled off after the Alex Caruso-Josh Giddey trade.

“NBA folks keep connecting Sacramento to various wings on the market. Kings registered interest in Dorian Finney-Smith before the trade deadline, sources said. Sacramento’s been linked to Kyle Kuzma. The Kings were a potential Zach LaVine suitor, but that seems less likely without Alex Caruso,” Fischer posted on his X (formerly known as Twitter).

The Washington Wizards are in rebuild mode after finishing with the second-worst record (15-67) in the NBA last season, and shopping their veteran players is one way for them to stockpile assets.

The Washington Wizards already started doing so in the 2024 NBA Draft when they traded Deni Avdija to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Malcolm Brogdon, the No. 14 pick used to select Bub Carrington, a 2029 first-round pick, and two future second-round picks.

Should the Sacramento Kings pull the trigger on Kyle Kuzma?

The Sacramento Kings are looking to make another playoff run after missing out this season following their play-in loss against the New Orleans Pelicans, and adding a productive player like Kyle Kuzma would surely help.

Kuzma, 28, is coming off a career season, averaging 22.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game on 46.3 percent shooting from the field in 70 regular-season games. The one-time NBA champion was arguably the Washington Wizards’ best player in 2023-24.

The potential addition of Kuzma gives the Sacramento Kings more firepower on the offensive end that already has the likes of De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Malik Monk , Keegan Murray, Kevin Huerter, and Harrison Barnes.
