The Knicks have released swingman Jaylen Martin and big Isaiah Roby, according to the organization.
On the penultimate day of the 2022–23 regular season, 25-year-old Roby signed with New York. Prior to being released in early March, he spent the most of the season with the Spurs, playing in 42 games and averaging 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 11.3 minutes per night. Roby played with Oklahoma City during his first three NBA seasons.
After going undrafted out of the Overtime Elite League, Martin inked a two-way deal with the Knicks this summer. Given that Nathan Knight and Dylan Windler presently hold the other two spots, his departure leaves New York with an open two-way spot.
Roby played in two of the team’s three preseason games, averaging 8.0 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game. During the preseason, Martin made one appearance that lasted three minutes.
Since neither player had a contract for this season, the Knicks won’t lose anything from the transactions. There are now 19 players on the team’s roster, and 12 of them have completely guaranteed contracts.
