Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has hinted that Cohen Bramall’s future lies away from Fratton Park.
Portsmouth landed the left-back in the January transfer window. He penned a short-term deal with Pompey running until the summer.
Bramall, 29, is due to become a free agent in late June as things stand. He has made 12 appearances since his move to Fratton Park this past winter.
Mousinho has shared this update on his situation in Hampshire, as per a report by The News: “Fair play, he’s come in, worked very well, is a very popular player and been great to work with. But we have two contracted left-backs next year, so maybe the conversation isn’t straightforward as I feel about Cohen, but whatever happens in the future I think he’s set himself up really well with what he’s done over the past few months.”
He added: “I hope Cohen goes away regardless of what happens here and says “I’ve played double figures in terms of games at a Championship club”. A platform like Portsmouth, I would have absolutely jumped at a chance to play at a platform like that because it’s a special, special place to play at the worst of times.”

Portsmouth signed Bramall to boost their defensive department. He has since given Pompey more competition and depth at the back.
The full-back played 21 matches for Rotherham United during the first-half of this campaign, 16 of which came in League One, and he chipped in with two assists. The Millers then cut ties with him earlier this year.
Bramall signed for Arsenal as a youngster back in 2017 having previously played in non-league with the likes of Nantwich Town, Kidsgrove Athletic and Hednesford Town. The Crewe-born man never made a senior appearance for the Gunners though and was loaned out to Birmingham City to get some experience.
Cohen Bramall’s career pre-Portsmouth move
Bramall left the Emirates Stadium in 2019 and had permanent spells at Colchester United and Lincoln City. Rotherham United came calling in 2022 and became a regular for the South Yorkshire club.
He played 102 games for the Millers and found the net twice. They were relegated from the Championship 12 months ago with Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town.
Portsmouth threw Bramall a second tier lifeline but it is yet to be known whether he will be staying. Mousinho’s latest comments suggest an exit may be on the cards.
Next up for Pompey is a home clash against Hull City this weekend. The Tigers need to win to stay up and will go down if they lose.
