Joe Mazzulla’s Verdict Overtime Celtics’ Loss Vs. Charlotte Hornets

On Monday, the Boston Celtics suffered a 121-118 loss from the Charlotte Hornets. This snaps their six-game winning streak.

The Hornets went on a 7-0 run in the final two minutes of regulation, which forced overtime. The Celtics made a few crucial errors during the overtime period, including a missed free-throw from Jayson Tatum and last-second turnover by Jrue Holiday.

As captured by NBC Sports Boston, Joe Mazzulla is accepting the defeat as a learning experience.

“Regardless, we just have to take something from each game. This was our first overtime game. It’s our first time where we blew a lead. We have to go back and see why we did it. It comes from taking plays off and not finishing on possessions. Credit to Charlotte for continuing to play hard the whole time.”

Mazzulla also expressed that his team allowed too many three-point shots on defense. “We gave up transition threes. We gave up transition threes to LaMelo Ball. We gave up transition threes to [Miles] Bridges. Those guys can score in bunches. The second you relax, they take advantage of it.”

The Celtics’ next game is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 22, against the Milwaukee Bucks at TD Garden; tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. EST.
