Ipswich Town are in talks to sign Atalanta defender Ben Godfrey on loan, the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star understands.
The 26-year-old joined the Serie A side from Everton in 2024, having previously spent time at the Blues’ arch-rivals – Norwich City.
Godfrey, a versatile defender, came through the ranks at York City. A natural centre-back, he can play as a left-back or a right-back, boasting two England caps. He also played in central midfield earlier in his career.
Ipswich currently have two players for each position in the back line, although Axel Tuanzebe is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Town are now looking to add Godfrey on a loan deal until the end of the season, with negotiations continuing, as first reported by Fabrizio Romano.
