Hornets Selected As The Best Team To Land For Veteran Wing

Charlotte Hornets showing signs of growth on the defensive end as they continue Eastern Conference rise | Sporting News

The Charlotte Hornets are a fairly young squad that just finished a season marked by almost universal problems. Because of this, Charlotte is not thought of as a top free-agent location, which forces teams to search for bottom-of-the-barrel choices even though the regular season’s start is just around the horizon. Which free agency player from the current crop could Charlotte consider signing? Ross, Terrence.

According to a recent Bleacher Report piece, Ross would be a great fit with the Hornets. Adam Fromal, the author, would mention Ross’s difficulties after arriving in Phoenix before suggesting Charlotte as a potential landing location.

“Ross isn’t likely to land with another true contender after joining the Phoenix Suns on the buyout market and struggling. But hopping aboard a team on the rise that could use veteran leadership and shooting improvements seems like his best non-overseas route.”

At the very least, it would be fascinating if Ross were to join the present Hornets. The 32-year-old veteran has a career three-point shooting percentage of 36.2%. Ross suffered throughout the 2021–22 season, according to Fromal. Ross would only succeed on 29.2% of his tries that season, making it the first time in his career that he fell short of the 30% level. Ross did increase his conversion percentage from deep this past season (to 36.8%), getting closer to his career high.

Two things stick out when analyzing the Hornets roster as it is right now. To begin with, they could definitely need a guy with his history of making three-pointers. Additionally, given the roster setup at the moment, it could be challenging to find a way to give him enough minutes. There are already a good number of Hornets players who will get lots of floor time. Finding a means to obtain Ross minutes should he wind up in Charlotte becomes quite challenging as a result of this. However, there is a chance that one or more players may be taken out of the picture, like in the case of Miles Bridges’ uncertain future and the trade of Gordon Hayward. Charlotte would be smart to think about adding Ross if a roster slot opens up. If not, they could be better suited using what they already have and holding onto the situation until the trade deadline.
