An event affecting a club in the Eastern Conference might have repercussions across the NBA. The Philadelphia 76ers are that group. James Harden is expected to be traded by the 76ers at some time in the future, and when that occurs, they will need to add someone to their roster, ideally an All-Star level guard.
Michael Saenz of Sir Charles in Charge made the comparison between Charlotte and Philadelphia even though the Hornets do not presently have an All-Star guard who may be transferred at this time.
Terry Rozier, an eight-year veteran, has been linked to Philadelphia as a result of a possible Harden deal. The Hornets are now surrounded by a lot of uncertainty, and a bad enough start might put them in a situation where they are prepared to haggle early on in the season. They are a perfect trade partner for competing teams wanting to strengthen their roster and/or bench group because to the fact that they have many veterans, including Gordon Hayward, who might be traded at any time during the season.
“The situation in Charlotte deserves to be kept an eye on. And that goes well beyond the Terry Rozier situation. On paper, it would make sense for the Hornets to at least explore the trade market surrounding Rozier. Even though he still has two years remaining on his contract, with a team option for a third, he could be viewed as somewhat of the odd man out heading into this season.”
Since his tenure with the Boston Celtics, Rozier has had postseason experience. This might be helpful for the 76ers as they attempt to go farther in the playoffs than they have so far been able to.
Would the Hornets be motivated to trade Rozier this year? It’s a difficult decision. Rozier, whose contract has two more years left, is highlighted in the paragraph above and may be a crucial veteran for Charlotte’s extremely youthful squad. That shouldn’t be reason enough for the Hornets to reject any trade proposal for Rozier, however. They are most likely a squad that will not be competitive for a few years. The truth is that there are certain players for whom any kind of trade inquiry would be instantly rejected, and Rozier is not one of them.
