All Memphis Grizzlies supporters should be thrilled to see Marcus Smart sport the navy blue and gold uniforms for the next 2023–24 season. Many think that the 29-year-old’s acquisition has made the team even more dangerous for opposition teams to square up against because of his defensive toughness and his previous playoff experience.
Of course, given Smart has missed the most of the preseason with a persistent abdominal ailment, this belief has not yet been put to the test in a real game environment.
Rumors had started to spread that the veteran’s debut would be postponed all the way to their regular season opening against the New Orleans Pelicans on October 25.
But in recent days, more encouraging rumors have surfaced, indicating that there may at least be a chance for Smart to get some preseason action under his belt. On Tuesday, Chris Herrington of The Daily Memphian provided an update that should cheer up the devoted Grizzlies fans.
Marcus Smart intends to make his Grizzlies debut versus Bucks in the preseason finale.

According to the writer, Smart has said “he plans to play” when Memphis plays the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday in the last preseason game.
If he were to ultimately put on the uniform and participate in the game, it would probably be advantageous for the Grizzlies as a whole since it would give them a chance to see how they work as a unit for the first time before the start of significant play.
