Grizzlies Make New Injury Announcement Before Knicks Game

On Friday night, the Memphis Grizzlies will host the New York Knicks. Both teams are 38-20 and stand in the top-three of their respective conferences.

As they each aim to secure home-court advantage for this year’s playoffs, every game is important with less than two months remaining in the regular season. The Grizzlies have been struggling a bit recently and are hoping to get back on track.

They are 3-4 in their last seven games with all three of their wins being by just single-digits. Regardless, the Grizzlies remain a legitimate title contender this year. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, they may be shorthanded against the Knicks given their latest injury news.

Though the Grizzlies have a pretty short injury report, it is still something to keep an eye on. Memphis officially added power forward GG Jackson to the injury report with a left eye injury. He is currently listed as questionable.

Jackson missed nearly the first three months of the season after undergoing foot surgery, but he made his return in mid-January and has played every game since. Through 16 games, the 20-year-old is averaging 8.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1 assist. The second-year forward’s status is one to monitor moving forward.

Whether Jackson suits up or not, it is crucial for the Grizzlies that they string together a few wins. They are just 0.5 games ahead of the No. 3 seed Denver Nuggets in the standings. Additionally, the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets are just 1.5 games back. If the Grizzlies continue this trend, they may drop in the standings and lose out on home-court advantage.
