The Green Bay Packers will be trying to continue their offensive success from the second half of the 2023 season into 2024. Jordan Love and the young weapons he had around him started firing on all cylinders during the second half of the season.
The team has already brought in Josh Jacobs for the 2024 season (and beyond), however, they may not be done adding to the offense.
The Green Bay Packers Get “Green Light” To Sign Offensive Big Man
According to Freddie Boston of FanSided:
The Packers have an excellent starting tackle combination and a Pro Bowl left guard. Signing free agent Connor Williams would give them a long-term solution at another position along the offensive line.
Williams has experience at center and left guard but played his best football in the middle of the offensive line. He remains a free agent as he recovers from a torn ACL that ended his 2023 season, but Williams won’t be available for much longer. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the former second-round pick “is in discussions with multiple teams” and plans to choose his destination before training camp.
Myers is frustratingly inconsistent. He shows signs of becoming a quality starting center at times and improved in the second half of last season, but it’s absolutely an area the Packers can upgrade, especially with Myers entering a contract year.
Williams was outstanding as the Miami Dolphins’ starting center last season. His 86.5 overall PFF grade ranked third among all centers, and he ranked third in run blocking and 14th in pass blocking at the position. Compare that to Myers, who ranked 41st, 46th, and 36th in those categories.
Running game consistency was lacking for the Packers last season. Having Williams open up rushing lanes for Josh Jacobs, MarShawn Lloyd, and AJ Dillon would make Jordan Love’s life much easier when dropping back to pass or utilizing play-action.
The Green Bay Packers already have a top-10 starting offensive line, and they have added depth this offseason. This offense could have one of the best starting lineups in the league if Williams were added.
