Giannis Antetokounmpo thinks LeBron James is leagues better than Michael Jordan. The Los Angeles Lakers star is someone who the NBA champion opens up to in an interview with The Athletic.
LeBron James versus Michael Jordan: Which Is Better?
Jordan and James have long engaged in a heated discussion over who is the greatest of all time. As they argue about who the greatest of all time is, fans are engaged in a never-ending conflict.
While opinions may never alter and these discussions may never come to a close, Antetokounmpo is already certain of his GOAT.
The former DPOY compliments James in an essay that highlights his legacy and career in the NBA. He also makes a reference to the James vs. Jordan argument by suggesting that the former is his first choice.
“Some guys might say he [James] is No. 2, but other guys like me, I say he is No. 1. and he’s still going.” Said Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Not only does he consider him the best, he’s leagues better because the 19-time All-Star is still going.
He continues by stating the superstar’s clean record in the league. This is especially impressive because he’s been in the league for 20 seasons, going 21.
James is clearly Antetokounmpo’s role model.
“For 21 years, you never get in trouble, to be able to take in his family, protect this family, raise his kids the right way, you know, be happily married, all those things, it’s perfect. He’s kind of like setting the blueprint for the rest of us to go forward. That’s what I want. I want to be able to do what I do on the court consistently, be good, be healthy, be available for my team, be able to, you know, raise my family in a bubble away from what I do on the court for them to have a normal life as much as I can. Stay out of trouble.” Giannis Antetokounmpo said.
This harkens back to Rich Paul’s words on James. The main reason the 38-year-old wins over the former Chicago Bull is his mental strength under media scrutiny.
Dwyane Wade further agrees with this as he praises James’ mental game.
Antetokounmpo Wants To Leave His Own Legacy
He finishes the conversation by claiming that he also wants to be a blueprint for future players.
Antetokounmpo and Mariah Riddlesprigger are now expecting their third child, which resembles James’ family standard. Thus, another point that connects him with the arguable GOAT.
“And hopefully one day, you know, when I’m done from the game of basketball maybe you mention me? I don’t know. But he sets up the blueprint for all the athletes that enter the NBA to follow.” Said Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Damian Lillard’s recent move to the Milwaukee Bucks might just be the forward’s ticket to a legacy and dynasty.
Meanwhile, James is going on his 21st season, and there are no signs of him slowing down.
